Biographies:
Ulrich Eichenauer, viola
|

Before
joining the Mendelssohn String Quartet, Ulrich Eichenauer, viola,
had been the principal violist of the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra
for several years and was on the faculty of the Musikhochschule
in Detmold where he studied previously with Annette Fleiner
and Nobuko Imai among others. While studying, Ulrich Eichenauer
attended masterclasses with Paul Tortelier, Serge Collot, Emanuel
Hurwitz, William Pleeth and the Melos Quartet. |

He now
has a very active schedule as a soloist and chamber musician.
From 1988 to 1991, he was a guest artist at the Marlboro Music
Festival in Vermont where he played with such artists as Paul
Tortelier, Siegfried Palm, Bruno Canino and members of the
Guarneri Quartet and the Beaux Arts Trio. Since then he has
participated in numerous tours with "Musicians from Marlboro"
throughout the U.S. and Europe. Mr. Eichenauer appears
at many international festivals in Europe and the US
and has performed as soloist with various symphony orchestras
of Germany. In 1995 he gave the world premiere of the rediscovered
Viola Concerto by Johann Sebastian Bach. Mr. Eichenauer is
a member of the artist faculty at the North Carolina School
of the Arts. He has recorded among others for the Sony Classical,
BIS and Dresdner Compact Disc labels. His latest CD features
works for Solo Viola by Max Reger and Paul Hindemith.
